Completed Sweater, Planning Next Projects

First off, I have to share my excitement with you on this … my February Lady Sweater is DONE!

Pattern: February Lady Sweater / Yarn: Cascade 220 Superwash / Raveled here.

I made the size XL and used about 7 and a half balls of the Cascade 220 superwash (I had purchased 9, in case). To get gauge, I used US7 needles rather than the US8 that the pattern calls for.

I chose to make three-quarter length sleeves. There are 19 lace repeats (one from prior to where you cast off for the sleeve, and 18 knit after picking up the stitches again) plus 8 garter ridges to make the cuff.

So now that my sweater is done, I’m itching for what’s next … ?

Suddenly I feel a lot more competent where larger garments are concerned, and digging through my stash, I remembered I had a bunch of balls of King Cole Splash DK and a vest pattern I’d picked up quite some time ago.

The bright green makes me think of springtime, which I am looking forward to. It seems like a really “happy” knit to shake the winter BLAHs. So I’m casting this on tonight! I’m excited!!

I’m also thinking I need to get back to my sock knitting. I’ve been tempted to buy some more sock needles (I prefer 32″ circulars to magic loop) because I swear mine disappear (erm, or they just might still be located on a bunch of unfinished sock projects *ahem*).

I signed up for the 2010 Rockin’ Sock Club from Blue Moon Fiber Arts (and am so psyched for the January shipment). However… I realized I still have all these from the 2009 club to knit: Rogue Roses, Fraggle Squiggle, In Season, Knetted, and Raven Swirl. (I have the yarn wound for Rogue Roses and Fraggle Squiggle … that’s a start, right?)

… And we won’t even discuss how many kits from the 2008 and 2009 Loopy Ewe Sock Club I have yet to knit. (*cough*mostofthem*cough*) I don’t think I’ll be signing up (or rather, putting my name into the sign-up lottery) for that one this year because unlike the Rockin’ Sock Club, spaces are limited in Loopy Ewe’s, and I’ve been a member two years in a row — it is someone else’s turn.

So anyway… once I’m over this small obsession with knitting bigger garments, I need to get back to socks. Lots and LOTS of socks.

I’m back to say CONGRATU-EFFING-LATIONS on the February Lady Sweater!! That’s quite the accomplishment, my new friend, and I can’t wait to share that feeling of triumph when I finally finish my CPH (over a year on the needles so far).

So I’m really loving your Zig-To-The-Zag sock pattern, and I wish I’d found it before casting on a stockinette sock on New Years day. I’m not much of a sock knitter, but I’ve suddenly realized I have quite the impressive sock yarn stash. (How does that happen?!) Matter of fact, I won a gorgeous skein of Cherry Tree Hill that I’ve been dying to work with. All the more reason to start a 6th or 7th WIP, right?? lol

I love your FLS! I’ve had some really nice yarn to make my own FLS for a year and a half now, but I’ve been too scared to try to make it, since I’ve never made a sweater before. Yours is one of the prettiest I’ve seen!

hee hee! You never know when some terrible sheep disease will stop them from producing wool and you’ll have to rely on your backup stash, right? Right.

Your new sweater is all kinds of awesome. Cheers!
