Completed Baby Blankets
Here are two baby blankets that I’ve completed in the past few weeks. (Yes – two! How ambitious of me, eh?)
Charity Baby Blanket
Pattern: n/a
Yarn: Plymouth Encore Colorspun Worsted (color #7514)
This blanket is a charity project that I made for “We Knit Neighbors Together“, our charity knitting group at my LYS, The Neighborhood Knit Shop.
I’m not sure that it’s a real “pattern” per-say, but it’s basically a very large version of the Grandmother’s Favorite Dishcloth. It’s a great pattern to use for charity knitting because any beginner can jump right into it. I also found out that it’s a handy project to have around on the needles for situations when you need something really, really simple — like when our power went out and our house was pitch-black. I was able to listen to my iPod and happily knit away without lighting so much as a single candle!
Pinwheel Baby Blanket
Pattern: Round or Pinwheel Baby Blanket by Genia Planck
Yarn: Berroco Comfort (in Primary Blue, Primary Red, Primary Yellow, Kidz Orange, and Seedling green)
This blanket is going to be a gift for a friend of ours who is expecting their first child (a boy!) in the upcoming months. I find boys so difficult to knit for, and I wanted to knit something more exciting than the standard blue. Well, I guess what I came up with is far from standard! I hope they like it; I know for some people it might be a bit “much” — if they don’t like it, I’ll happily take it back for my hope chest, because I absolutely adore it. Nothing like bright colors for stimulating baby! Plus, it’s huge (much larger than I’d intended, actually) so I’m envisioning that it will be a great blanket to lay out on the floor for “tummy time” playing!
… And for now, I think I’m about sick of blankets. (Actually, I’m blissfully addicted to cotton berets at the moment, but that’s another post, coming soon…)
