Rockin’ Socks and a New Original Design

I just got an e-mail confirmation that the next shipment of the Rockin’ Sock Club has shipped.  I can’t wait!  The RSC group on Ravelry already has spoilers, because some people in Canada have received their packages.  I didn’t peek the first time ’round, but this time I did.  Without giving too much away — the pattern designer is one of my very favorite knitter/bloggers and the yarn is absolutely gorgeous.  I can’t wait to get it and cast on.

(Yes, I know I talked about these socks in my previous post, but it was under a “read more” and I don’t know who saw them — not to mention, they’re so gorgeous that they’re worth a second mention!)

I’m loving my Queen of Beads socks that were from the January shipment from the RSC.  I’ve only worn them once so far but I’ve gotten lots of compliments.  They are certainly unique and eye-catching with the beadwork and vibrant colors.

I’m hurrying through another sock at the moment too…

It’s a new sock I’m designing for my “Sockology 103: Toe-Up” class at the knit shop.  So far the working name for them is Zaun Socks.  (“Zaun” being the German word for “fence”, according to good ol’ Babelfish.)  I couldn’t find a sock I wanted to use for teaching the toe-up techniques I wanted to cover, so I decided to make something up.

These were inspired by the Leyburn pattern, which is one of my favorites.  Then I decided to throw in contrasting heels and toes just for the fun of it.  I’m knitting these out of Panda Cotton (in Lacquer Red) and TOFUtsies (color #918), and I’m thinking I’m going to make them anklet-length so they’ll be all-around summertime socks.  (Particularly for summers in Tennessee… *ahem*)

I finished knitting the heel during my lunch hour today, so I’m anxious to start knitting the cuff and see how they turn out!
